COVID-19 day 199: 📈 59,692 new cases, 1,854 new deaths (US): 06 August 2020
Global cases cross 18M, US deaths cross 160K; a numbers-only edition
It’s day 199 since the first case of coronavirus disease was announced in the United States. The daily case numbers continue to decline slightly while deaths per day increase. Apologies for continued lag in the three issues/week report. Hopefully, next week I’ll feel better. (Some details in the next issue, for those who are curious.)

🦠 Thursday, Johns Hopkins reported 4,883,582 (59,692 new) cases and 160,104 (1,854 new) deaths, an increase of 1.24% and 1.17%, respectively, since Wednesday. A week ago, the daily numbers increased by 1.53% and 0.89%, respectively.

The virus was not created in a lab and the weight of evidence is that it was not released intentionally. Although early reports tied the outbreak to a market in Wuhan, China, analyses of genomic data have suggested that the virusdeveloped elsewhere.
